I attempted to make this gochujang glazed eggs recipe with my friend Sarah last night based on this great blog I stumbled upon on the internet. I was skeptical at first but the incredible smells wafting out of the pan assured me, as well as Sarah, that this would be tasty. The honey's sweetness, the soy sauce's saltiness, and the gentle spiciness of the gochujang were incredible when combined together. I knew I had to recreate this culinary gem for you guys!

📖 Instructions

  1. First things first, get that stovetop going on medium heat. Grab your small saucepan and whisk together 2 tablespoons of gochujang, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Stir like crazy till it becomes a smooth, glossy paste. Trust me on the whisking – lumps are the enemy of deliciousness. If it seems too thick add a tiny bit of water at a time until you get your desired consistency.
  2. Next, crack two eggs gently into your non-stick skillet. You want to do this carefully, you don't want any shell bits ruining this masterpiece, okay?
  3. Once your eggs are sizzling gently (low-medium heat is key here!), let them cook for about a minute or two until the whites start to set. But leave the yolks nice and runny, because runny yolks are amazing!
  4. Now for the fun part! Gently spoon your magical gochujang glaze over the eggs. Try to coat them evenly. Tilt the pan a little to help the sauce flow around.
  5. Keep cooking till the whites are fully cooked through but the yolks are still wonderfully runny to your liking. This might take another 2-3 minutes, depending on your stove and the size of your pan.
  6. Using a spatula, carefully slide your perfectly glazed eggs onto a plate. Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds. I'm talking a full-on sesame seed blizzard!
  7. And there you have it. A dish fit for culinary gods! Serve immediately and watch your fam go crazy over it. Seriously, this is one recipe you will want to add to your regular rotation! The flavor explosion is insane!.
  8. Oh, and one more tiny thing before you start eating. If your gochujang glaze seems to be getting a little too sticky while you cook, add another 1/2 teaspoon of water. That should thin it out nicely!

📝 Notes

  • Adjust the amount of gochujang to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality gochujang.
  • If you don't have sesame oil, you can substitute with another neutral oil like vegetable or canola oil. But the sesame adds a nice depth of flavour.
